The Garden City

I live in a city located in the only sub-tropical area of Canada. As a result, the flora of Victoria is unlike that found in other parts of Canada. We're known as the Garden City, and those of you who have visited will understand the reason. We rarely see snow or temperatures below freezing.

If you have been to Victoria, you probably wandered around the world-famous Butchart Gardens.

I've been there many times and there is always something different to see each season.

Victoria is famous for its hanging baskets and spectacular views of the Olympic Mountains, which, of course, are actually located in Washington State!

The nice thing for those of us who live here is the convenient size of the city. The provincial legislature is located here, but we're not a BIG city. You can drive from one end to the other in about half and hour.

Then there's the impressive Empress Hotel and our cute little water taxis. Barb's Fish and Chips at Fisherman's Wharf has the best fish and chips in the world and check out Jackson's Ice cream while you are there.

We also host cruise ships in the spring, summer and early fall.

If you decide to visit, let me know and I'll try to meet you for coffee.
